Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals at Car Hire Walkden are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance details, fees, and your responsibilities for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Walkden, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with valid payment information and a security deposit. Please also review any extra requirements noted in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by calling us, or by visiting our Walkden office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
4. Pick Up and Drop Off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. It is expected that you return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, accounting only for standard wear and tear. Any new damage detected will result in a charge based on our assessment. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same amount of fuel as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate any delays. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during the rental period, along with a small administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is wise to review these options thoroughly. As the renter, you are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or missed reservations could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Prohibited uses of the vehicle include any illegal activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is not allowed. The vehicle must not be used to transport hazardous materials or sub-let to unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or operating outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Walkden will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims is capped at the total amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraudulent activities.
Governing Law in Walkden
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
